Public Finance Live

Annual Conference 2023

Public Finance Live 2023

CIPFA holds Public Finance Live every year, in a different location.

This year, the conference was held at the QEII Centre in Central London on 27 and 28 June. The conference is aimed at professionals working in public finance and accountancy in the UK and globally.

Public Finance Live 2023 was attended by over 700 finance professionals. The event included panel discussions and workshops on everything from addressing regional inequalities and sustainability to how to improve diversity and inclusion and tackle corruption.

The conference brought together practitioners, commentators and experts for sector updates, discussions and insights into public finance and public service management.

The conference featured leading public figures, public sector innovators, commercial partners, commentators and analysts alongside delegates from across the public sector and beyond.

Item 1 of 3

During the conference, CIPFA announced this years honorary officers, including Caroline Rassell, President, Jayne Owen, Past President and Carol Culley, Vice President.

Caroline opened the conference with an address, during which she set out her three themes for the coming year.

The themes, continued on from last year, are sustainability, stronger together and social mobility.

The address also examined the current political and financial situation facing the country, and expressed Caroline's projections of the coming months.

She also reminded the conference how important it is to stay true to yourself and remarked that she is proud to be the first female President from Essex.

"As public finance professionals we will be tasked with balancing the books while making sure that the most essential services can carry on. It is critical that we are united in ensuring that there is good governance, robust financial management and a strong ethical framework in making these decisions. As an institute it will be as much our challenge as yours to provide support to ensure there is this level of integrity."
